Ellie Ann Reccomends:

Don’t you think March is the longest month of the year? Christmas is over and spring seems so far away. It’s filled with bad weather, school, long work hours, cabin fever, darkness, wailing, mourning, gnashing of teeth...uh, sorry, I got a bit carried away. It’s not that bad. A good book and warm chocolate chip cookies are usually a good fix. But another good way to beat the winter doldrums is by going to steampunk events!

Wild, Wild West Steampunk Convention III
March 7-8 2014—Tuscon, Arizona

Everyone knows steampunk and the Wild West go together like biscuits and gravy. The good convention leaders at Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention have put together an amazing weekend with awesome guests and fantastic events. Steam Powered Giraffe, The Cog is Dead, the one and only Professor Elemental, a Land vs. Sea Steampunk Ball (great theme!), tea tastings, Steampunk Boba Fett, Airship Isabella, Brian Kesinger, Kato, and Loop Rawlins are some of the people and events they’ve lined up. So come forth from your winter caves and partake is some wild, western, steampunky fun.

Sounds of Steam podcast
every Monday at 9 PM EST—The Aethernetz

This was the very first steampunk podcast I heard and I was hooked. The hosts, Travis I. Sivart (I stands for intelligent) and Wendy L. Callahan (L stands for lively) have developed an excellent concoction of steampunk news, interesting trivia, excellent guests, cool music, and a big crowd of fun-loving people that tune in every Monday night. Sometimes I listen to the podcast during the week, but the best is listening to it live and chatting with the group on Facebook. Check it out!
