The Walking Dead Will Get a Spin-Off Show. What Should It Be About?

The Walking Dead spin-off 2015

AMC announced today that it has begun developing a Walking Dead spin-off drama to debut in 2015. The announcement characterizes it as a “companion series” that will be able to tell stories in the same world without being tied to the continuity of the ongoing comic series.

Series creator Robert Kirkman will serve as executive producer on the show and, if AMC’s announcement is any indication, is rarin’ to go. “After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

While we wait for Kirkman to debut Tales of The Walking Dead (or whatever it may be called) we’re curious what readers want from this unexpected opportunity. Essentially, if you had a chance to expand on the world of The Walking Dead, what would you do?

How about zombies?

I would LOVE to see The Walking Dead available at Kindle Worlds, where we authors could write novellas based on the TV series and the graphic novels/comics.

I'd like to see a series that showcases a single zombie each episode, telling snippets of their life story juxstaposed with interactions in the present time with a group of survivors that appear peripherally in each episode.

Describing the show as "tethered" to the events of the book is borderline ridiculous.
5. Brain Food
How about a zombie cartoon

Well I'd prefer this not be the most obvious, the same zombie apocalypse but in a different location. It would take a lot of work to make that really different. And I'd love a show based on Lenny James's character like his story before he met back up with Rick. Then there's always zombie in outer space,Game of Bones,or a zomcom maybe called Big Bones Theory.

Vampires. The vampire that keeps Cleveland "safe" from zombies, but you know, at the terrible price you'd expect.

The governor finds his long lost illegitimate son (played by Chris Hardwick) and they go on a crazy, kooky, musical killing spree, taking out both people and zombies until they make their way to the coast. They will then commandeer a boat and become pirates of the zombie apocalypse.

Like #7, but the True Blood vampires vs. Walking Dead walkers. Zombies are wiping out the Vampires' food supply & vice versa. Humans don't stand a chance.

It should be about vampires, most of whom are now starving because almost all of the humans are dead. There should be an elder vampire, played by Rutger Hauer, or maybe John Voight who is trying to stick to "the old ways," and a young, charismatic vampire who is leading a rebellion against him.

There are also werewolves, whose relative peace out in the hinterlands is being disturbed by all the survivors moving away from the cities.
