I will believe Republic of Thieves is coming when I hold it in my hands and no sooner.

(After it does, however, the sequel to Shades of Grey: The Road to High Saffron will instant become my Most Anticipated Book* that isn't the next SoIaF. As I've recently learned that the next book in that world was put back another year and is now a distant prequel, I suspect that it will hold that spot well into the next decade...)

* That I have any real expectation of ever seeing at this point, so Irontown Blues doesn't count.

It's been a long wait Republic of Thieves, you've just about ducked me for the last time though, for serious realsies this time!

Yeah, Republic is one of the bigger releases of the year, for me at any rate

The science in the Kris Longknife books might not be very good, but unless the latest has some gigantic change in setting, I wouldn't call them Fantasy...

LOL. I too am waiting to see if Republic of Thieves does, indeed, appear. I think I've announced it in these columns at least once a year for the past two years!

@Lurker...Yeah, you're right. "Space pirates" should have tipped me off, eh? We'll just pretend it's on tomorrow's SF list!

It has been a long time since I paid attention to the Xanth novels (I may have stopped some time around Ogre, Ogre). But aren't the titles these days generally puns? Because -- Esrever Doom -- I don't get it.

Kris Longknife being promoted to Admiral? No, that puts it squarely in the 'fantasy' category.

The Last Dark
(AKA, the final chronicle of Thomas Covenant, Unbeliever)

I literally cannot believe we get this finally. I would never have believed it when I first started this series about 25 years ago. There have been moments over the past few years when I thought Donaldson would never finish the series. I still think the highlight was the Second Chronicles, but let's be happy we get Donaldson's final thoughts on the matter.
