News time, Whovians! The title for the 50th Anniversary Special is here! It’s swift and shiny! It’s... “The Day of the Doctor”!
Well. That was anticlimatic, actually. But then, it’s not “The Three Doctors” or “The Five Doctors” or “Doctors, Plural” so we should probably be thankful.
But what’s this? An actor protest?
It turns out that Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Slyvester McCoy (that’s Five, Six, and Seven—Four was probably still stuck on that damn gondola) were seen outside the BBC TV Centre yesterday, holding up signs and banners protesting their exclusion from the 50th Anniversary. Which at first glance seems like a cute sketch for DVD extras and the like, but let’s hope that it’s more than that.
We might have reason to! McCoy is wearing a very Seven-like hat, and Davison is wearing his Fifth Doctor cricket jumper. Filming something goofy like that is a great cover for any actual filming that might take place. (Whenever important people walk into the BBC offices it’s always news, so it’s not like they could have strolled in without the whole internet knowing.) Some goofy stunt would be a let down—fingers crossed that they were called in for more.
Also, they’ve started filming the Christmas Special, and Matt Smith was required to don a wig, since he shaved all his glorious hair for his Ryan Gosling-directed movie role. We think it looks totally passable:
