Morning Roundup: The Evolution of Sigourney

We’re not shy here about talking about how much we love Sigourney Weaver. There truly might not be anyone in genre films who is cooler. (Let’s not forget about that no-look reverse basketball shot from Alien: Resurrection, Joss Whedon’s true masterpiece.) But this cool fan art we saw over on Geek-Art really put Sigourney’s Sigourney-ness in a new light. Good job Jeff Victor! (Check out his other actor evolutions here.)

Highlights of your daily offsite links include:

  1. Harlan Ellison’s new DC Comics project.
  2. Who you gonna call? Bill Murray? Or not?
  3. Joss Whedon is like the Hulk. Of writing.

The Hobbit

Ghostbusters!

Stubby the Rocket is the voice and mascot of Tor.com. Stubby is like so whatever.

i'm sad the illustration didn't include sigourney's brief but incredibly memorable appearance as the boss-lady in 'Paul'... that movie is so wonderful.

You know what, I did not know Joss Whedon wrote Alien: Resurection. I can now love and HATE him for that movie. Love, because up until the white albino mutant baby alien, I think Alien: Resurection might have turned out as my favorite Alien movie. Directed by the same team who gave us CITY OF LOST CHILDREN and DELICATESSEN, the look and feel of ALIEN: RESURRECTION was so unique. The story was awesome as well...except for out of nowhere is this silly looking white albino alien mutant.

At least Ripley finally makes it back to earth, except, you know, it's not the William Gibson written Alien 3 that all had hoped to see, er, I hoped to see at least.

Cool to know I wasn't crazy to like Alien: Resurrection. Of course I also loved Alien3 so I wouldn't get all excited yet.
