Mark Your Calendars: NYC Midnight Release Party for A Memory of Light

Announcing a Midnight NYC Release Event for signed copies of A Memory of Light, the final book in the Wheel of Time series!

Wheel of Time fans, this is just a reminder to write the word “PARTY!” in big red crayon on your calendar for January 7th. That’s when and Tor Books are teaming up with WORD Bookstore to host an NYC midnight release party for A Memory of Light!

The PARTY REBORN, as we’ve taken to calling it in the office, will take place on Monday, January 7th at Professor Thom’s in New York City, beginning at 8 PM and counting down until midnight, when the final book of The Wheel of Time finally becomes available for purchase. We’ll be selling copies right at the party, so you can have fun, drink up, then rush home to read A Memory of Light.

But that’s not all!

We will have signed copies of A Memory of Light on hand for readers to purchase at the party. (While supplies last.) But you can also guarantee yourself a signed copy by pre-ordering right now through WORD. IMPORTANT: To ensure that your pre-ordered book is there, please note “for release party” in the comments field of the pre-order form.

Before the big midnight release, join in the revels and chat about the series with special guest Leigh Butler, she of the (momentarily) completed Wheel of Time Reread!

Admission to the Memory of Light midnight release is FREE, but we ask you to please “Join” the event page on Facebook so we have an idea of how many of you we’ll need books for.

There are no beginnings or endings to the Wheel of Time, but this is an ending, so spend it with your fellow Wheel of Time fans. (Then run home to read the new book after midnight.) We’ll see you there!

Party time, cool, well it is if you live in the US, but as I don't I will just have to miss out. But I will have my copy on the 8th, don't you worry. NOT LONG NOW

@1 John_8552: It's not a "US" thing - it's a New York thing. Please appreciate how big this country is and how much many of us hate NY for all the cool things they get and don't share. I'm on the opposite side of the country and I've asked the local independent bookseller (Powell's) if they'll do a midnight opening and the response was no. I want very badly to throw my money at someone at 12:01 that night - I was going to take Tuesday off so I can read AMoL - but it's starting to look like if I want the book at 12:01 I'll have to go to Wal-Mart. Yes, judge me, but I want the flippin' book.

There's no judging - I've already started asking all the near bookstores if they'll be having a midnight sale too (in BC); so far no one has agreed :-(

When Towers of Midnight was about to come out, I asked around a few local bookstores for a midnight opening, and I was essentially laughed at. >.>

I did find out that Audible has it ready for download early in the morning, probably even at midnight. I didn't think about downloading the audiobook until about 6am while I was getting ready for work. I was able to start "reading" it right away, even though I didn't purchase the book until after work. Audible isn't the best answer for most people, I'm sure, but if you already have a subscription, or have the burning desire to throw money at something in order to get into aMoL as soon as humanly possible, it could be an option.

I will be there ,first and last WOT event for me. I hope to see that my crazy theory about the men poking holes in the patern by travelling and moving armies is the reason for the thinness in the pattern as well as the reason Rand was allowed to roam free by the shadow. If balefire can burn threads threads can also get tangled. This is the reason I think for the standing weaves in the age of legends used for traveling. Hope I'm right if not oh well can't wait for the end its been a great journey.

When Elayne did her "thread picking" and blew up the Seanchen that was serious pattern destabilization. But as for the men, that's how they do it, 'boring a hole' I don't believe anything has ever been hinted at as that being an issue. I'd find it disturbing if it were... well at least not w/o some serious explanation, and pointing out where we saw examples.

Shoot the way Rand poured Raw Power into the portal stones could have been more of an issue, easily, than male traveling, or even skimming entrances and exits for that matter.
