Game of Thrones Season 3 Teaser Trailer Hits

Game of Thrones Season 3 Teaser Trailer Hits

Here’s the first official promo for Game of Thrones season 3. It’s 16-second long! It’s got letters! And a date! And what sounds like Melisandre being ominous?

Could they have copied Jackson and his LoTR more blatantly?

Ugh, to just about everything about this series.

I don't think that's Melisandre, or any other character we've met yet. Since it sounds like something Melisandre would say, my guess would be it's Selyse Baratheon, Stannis' wife and devout follower of Melisandre and her red god, who has been cast for S3.

Non book readers are going to be really ticked off, because that promo implies that things might be coming to a close soon, and that is so not the case.

Melisandre's Galadriel impression=FAIL

My ears, confirmed by other GoT sites, is that the voice is of the actress playing Selyse. I won't name the moderately well known actress playing her in order to avoid any hint of spoilage.

Well fine.

*goes to look up*

OK thats not ringing any bells, but it still sounds like she's aping Galadriel.

To save everyone's bandwidth - Season 3 starts on 31 March, 2013.
That is all.

03.31.13 (US style, anyway). Appropriate date to start Season 3/adaption of the third book.

On the merits, I wasn't wowed by this either. Sounds too much like Mel last year and I wouldn't have pegged Selyse as being worthy of voiceover role. I would have expected Mance or Jojen or the QoT.

Ah well, there is going to be some S 3 footage coming out on the first Sunday in December, just before Boardwalk Empire finale. Yipee.

So it's basically guaranteed that this series is going to catch up to the books before they're completed, right?

@juanito it's been pretty much guaranteed that those of us who started when book 1 was just a hardcover will all have grandchildren before the series is completed. I agree with phonos. This was a waste of bandwidth.

The HBO show has quite a while to go - this year and next year for book three, at least three seasons total for books 4 and 5 - so we're talking summer 2017 before we're at the end of the current books. GRRM is writing at a steady pace re the new book. He's not going to publicly jinx anything, but he expects to finish Winds of Winter in 2014, let's say 2015 to be safe. There will be at least one HBO season for WoW, so that takes in HBO time into summer 2018. It's far from unreasonable to me that either Dream of Spring will be done by then or at least enough text in the first half to get another HBO season done. So, as long as GRRM gets Dream of Spring done by 2019 or so, the HBO will remain on track.

Keep in mind that ADWD was slow because GRRM hit a creative problem - he couldn't figure out how to get all the key characters to Mereen in the right sequence. That help up the writing of ADWD for several years. The creative issue is over, and he can get back to a reasonable pace of every three years or so (which is slower than the first few books).
