Full Trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful

Behold the new full-length trailer for Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, in which monkeys fly, good witches wear leather pants, and James Franco is charged with saving the citizens of Oz from the (rather mysterious) Wicked Witch and her minions. As huge Oz fans, it’s getting hard not to be lured in by these shiny, Technicolor glimpses of the movie (coming up in March, 2013)...check out the trailer and let us know what you think!

I'm going to hope that all of those shots were first takes, because otherwise I'm completely underwhelmed at the hired talent and the stunning lack of ability to deliver a line.

And the CGI doesn't look all that great, either.

Yay! Finally Oz is the story about a white MAN! We could not leave that to a girl, could we?

I had my doubts when I first heard ab0ut this project, but the more I see, the more I like.

Color me cautiously intrigued. The Oz canon has a lot of wiggle room in it, especially in pre-Baum continuity, and it looks as if the creators have done above-average homework in the course of crafting the secondary characters. It could still go horribly wrong in final form, but there's definitely potential here.

What our imaginations need so much now: a classic re-written to center a male instead of the original Dorothy.

Lousy looking too.

Does it really have to be in 3D? i am really sick of stupid "bird flying into my face" tricks. I want cinema from pre-Avatar era!

As I understand, it's not a rewrite, it's a prequel.

Though what I would really like to see is Ozma of Oz, transexual main charecter for the win!

@1 NomadUK - yes. I thought the idea was stupid and capitalizing on the popularity of the stage-play Wicked, but this isn't even that same story. I've never liked or thought James "the Stoner" Franco could act, and everything in this trailer just reinforces that idea. It looks like they're going to have a lot of "short" jokes using the Munchkins/Little People for laughs and cutesies (which I find annoying).

Finally, I thought the Wizard had actually built the Emerald City, not just that he ruled there.
