Bryan Singer Confirms: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, & Michael Fassbender All in For X-Men: Days of Future Past

In what is possibly the coolest casting news we’ve had in ages, Bryan Singer tweeted today that Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy are all CONFIRMED to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past. ALL THE MAGNETOS! ALL THE XAVIERS! The time travel old/young mutants meeting themselves action in this movie is now officially set to rock.

Singer mentioned several cast members from X-Men: First Class were also returning, including Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.

What will happen when the Professor Xs try to read each other’s minds??

Does this mean the X-Trilogy is canon for First Class or is this just a cool casting choice ('cause Sir Ian is awesome as Magneto)? I don't want it to be the first.

Not necessarily canon, but my suspicion is that the events of X3 are getting retconned out of existence with 1st Class Crew teaming up with the future crew to stop it, very much like the Days of Future Past comic arc.

This seems more likely knowing the new Wolverine movie takes place post-X3.

I honestly don't care as long as I get Sentinels.

You know it'd be really nice if when you change the URL of a post because you misspelled someone's name, you forwarded the OLD url to the new one.

One useful feature of time travel paradox storylines is that the past, or the future, or both, or neither, can be "canon" or not, depending on the outcome. The protagonists are literally trying to cause a retcon.
