Morning Roundup: The Hobbit is So Money

Real New Zealand money based on The Hobbit

If you live in New Zealand, you’re keenly aware that it’s also Middle-earth! In honor of the impending release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey—and with Tolkien fever back in full swing—actual New Zealand currency will feature Bilbo Baggins. Now that’s my precious. (News via The Telegraph.)

The rest of your offsite links contain no riddles, also not in the dark. Highlights include:

  1. What makes a hero?
  2. Incoming Doctor Who spoilers.
  3. Find out if you are in love with an alien or what, already.

Stubby the Rocket is the voice and mascot of Tor.com. Stubby can’t remember what the deal is with Hobbit gold. Does it disappear or what?

Turhan Bey, who played a couple of guest roles, one of which got him an emmy nomination, has died.

What a great birthday present BBC is releasing. To bad they aren't waiting until Series 7 is finished since I'd rather have the complete season than half.
That upcoming DW episode sounds crazy good. Finally something featuring modern technology that doesn't sound like a stinker.
I'm kinda tempted to watch a dinopeople film now.

Edit: Something funny about the whole getting a new companion. Two nights ago I actually had a DW dream, even though I've only seen snippets so far, and it was like the Doctor was real and I stumbled into the Tardis for some reason and joined him for whatever was happening. Funnily I think it'd be fun to play a know-it-all that gets on his nerves but has enough info to figure out jams they get into or have someone with an anti-doctor personality.
