First Footage of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome!

The second spin-off of Ron Moore’s Battlestar Galactica reboot looks to be a bit closer than we thought. Here’s the first footage:

So, ignoring the strange choice to basically make the trailer the bastard cousin of the U.S. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer, what are we seeing? Well, to start, we’re seeing little Bill Adama! In a viper! Being awesome!

In all honesty, it looks like this was the BSG prequel we’d really been waiting for. The endless games within schemes of plots (and not enough likeable characters) killed Caprica off pretty quickly, and Blood and Chrome is already announcing itself as the kind of BSG we know and love. It’s possible that this spin-off may rely more heavily on action, and CGI will clearly be a sizeable component since we’ve got lots of early cylons to contend with.

What are you hoping to see? And do you think Blood and Chrome has what it takes to be the “gamechanger” Syfy is heralding it as?

Shameless trailer ripoff. The Girl with the Galactica Tattoo?

I am now officially a bit scared by the music. (This all assumes that the music was "official," not just cut together by whoever put up the video...)

That was a great cover of "Immigrant Song" (any idea who performed it? Or was it Bear McCreary's original again?), but then again, it was a great cover of "All Along the Watchtower" too, but that didn't stop it from being a really epic problem for the show. If this one ends with a flash forward to Iraq War soldiers rocking out to Led Zeppelin, I swear, I'm beyond done with Ron Moore.

Apart from that, I don't know. There isn't any there there yet. Fancy battle scenes? Whee. Give me some context.

Oh hellyeh. The music works once you get over its off-putting "Dragon Tattoo" origins ("We will drive our ships to new lands" fergodsake). And if you don't like the music, turn off the sound and just look at the thing. I'm on this like a tattoo.

I loved Caprica. Thought it was extremely well done. Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to another continuation of the BSG universe. Just hoping the action fluff shown in this trailer will be more balanced with deeper moments like BSG and Caprica.

That's Nine Inch Nails (with vocals from the frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) doing that cover.

It was recorded for David Fincher's (much better) version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. And was featured prominently in this trailer.

Blocked. Because why would the copyright holder want to drum up interest?

(Thanks, wiredog.)

@scifantasy: Bear McCreary has already announced he's doing the soundtrack for the pilot.

Surely the soundtrack as given here is some sort of joke.

Thanks wiredog! Just heard about it and couldn't find it anywhere. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it. I love everything BSG!
