Free Download of Gulliver’s Travels

Gulliver’s TravelsWritten over 250 years ago, Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift is a beloved tale well-known around the world. For young children, it is a whimsical story of a man who travels first to a world of little people where he is a giant among them, and then into a world where the tables are reversed and he is surrounded by towering giants. For adults, it has become a classic of English literature due to its deep and lasting reflections upon the nature of mankind itself. (Its popularity even seems to have survived the recent movie remake with Jack Black.)

In celebration of Swift’s birthday on November 30, Tantor is offering the audiobook edition of Gulliver’s Travels as a free download, including a companion PDF eBook! The audiobook is narrated by the late David Case, who was awarded the title of a “Golden Voice” by AudioFile magazine. This is a limited-time offer, so don’t miss your chance to delve into this classic tale for the first time, or discover it anew in audiobook format.

To get your free download you must have an account at please note that the free download may not be available in all areas.

This seems to get you two free books, Gulliver and another selected from three on the sign up page. I went with Containment.

Small addition to the tagline: Tantor staffer Elizabeth Ellis contributed info to the writing of this post.

I was only able to get Containment and not Gulliver's Travels. Did the offer expire already?

The free download of Containment is a different special. You have to go to the main page of Gulliver's Travels to get that free download, located here.

Total tanget, but the made-for-TV version of Gulliver's Travels a few years back, the one starring Ted Danson, was pretty enjoyable and faithful to the wicked satire of the novel. Surprisingly faithful for a TV adaptation, in that it included the firefighting scene in Lilliput.

(There was an odd framing sequence of Gulliver on trial for, basically, being mad, but it worked reasonably well.)

Hi, the free Guilliver download can be accessed from the Guilliver product page. The Containment download is an added bonus (you get to choose one title out of three) for registering with the site. Enjoy!

I didn't see the free Gulliver on the product page, but the link in this post worked. I also chose Containment of the three offered at account creation.
