Watch Green Fire Cascade Over the Planet

The above video is a gorgeous time lapse sequence of photographs taken by Ron Garan and the crew of expedition 28 & 29 onboard the International Space Station from August to October, 2011. Watch auroras dart over our generally-blue orb as the International Space Station orbits the planet. These are not special effects, this is what space actually looks like. Damn.

I think the best part of this video is seeing lightning strobing in the atmosphere from so high above.
