Saturday Morning Cartoons: “Face Like a Frog” and “Swing You Sinners!”

Face Like a Frog: Most people have seen Sally’s Cruikshank’s animation in films like Twilight Zone and Top Secret, or on Sesame Street. But it’s when she makes her own films that she really shines. (5:25 minutes)

Swing You Sinners: Modern day animators weren’t the first to have their characters have surreal adventures in a strange house haunted by ghosts and other weird creatures playing jazz music. (7:56 minutes)

I love the old Fleishcer studios cartoons; I actually went to a animation festival at an art house theater near where I lived for a high school film class once, and they played "Swing, You Sinners!" It instantly became one of my favorite cartoons, and sparked my interest/love in the old, surreal as hell Fleishcer cartoons. Thank you for posting this, as well as keeping this awesome colum up. Seriously, this makes my Saturday most weeks.

I think you meant "Top Secret", not "Top Gun".

And yes, thanks for the videos. Loved "Swing You Sinners". Going to add it to my Halloween playlist.

Aargh, you're right of course.

I've corrected it. Thanks
