I'm a fan of Mistborn and of Sanderson in general, but i'm having trouble working up any excitement for Alloy of Law. It just feels superfluous. This was a well done trilogy that reached a satisfying conclusion - why are we going back there again? Eddings has spoiled retreads for me, so perhaps i judge it too harshly. Anyone with more insight care to try and sell me on it?

Thanks for this heads-up! I prefer reading my excerpts all in one big bunch so this is pretty handy.

@Hatgirl, it's unavailable on the Amazon Kindle store outside of the US, but you can still get it on the Sony Reader Store in ePub format (I live in Europe and it worked for me) :D

I know how you feel. Well, I dont like when a story has reached a very good ending and then another book comes on claiming to be the next one. This book is not the NEXT mistborn. Every world has more then one story to tell and this is a different story 300 years later. In our world you could write about the many Revolutionary Wars or World War II or whatever! I think this could be an awesome book and I have enjoyed the story a whole lot so far. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I feel like this book is taunting me. I want this book now, but I probably won't have time to read it until the end of the semester, which is five weeks after the release date. Not cool.

@2... really? In a post with links to a FREE version of the first 6 chapters you want someone elese to enlighten you about the novel? Download the chapters and read for yourself. It won't take long and then you'll know what you think one way or the other....

Tor - thanks!

It may be available on the Sony Reader Store in Europe, but that apparently requires some kind of special software.

So I have two options: Spend time registering an account (with Sony no less), trying to find the right software for Mac and iOS, etc.

Or I can just click through the six chapters here, save them to Instapaper, and read them on my Mac, iPhone, iPad, and pretty much anything with a browser. Who needs eBooks?
