Weekly Who: Moffat Pegged for Who Showrunner in 1995

Welcome to our Weekly Who roundup! Every Friday morning (or less if we’ve just been crazy on the Who front) we collect random/cool Doctor Who-related news and things that we’ve found in our internet travels. Feel free to point out your own finds in the comments!

We’ve had a nice month off for “Weekly Who” but we’ve not been quiet on the Who front. We’re back this week with actual Daleks you can purchase and proof that anyone rambling on the internet can one day run the show!

In Doctor Who news:

1.) Watch a prequel of this Saturday’s mid-season finale, “A Good Man Goes To War.” Video clip below, courtesy of BBC America!

We’ve seen the finale and we are tremendously excited and pissed off in equal measure. Be sure to tune in, yourselves! [Note: Please refrain from posting spoilers or commentary on the episode here. We’ll have a recap post for you on Monday!]

2.) io9 gets Eleven to open up about evil hats. io9 posted a great interview with the Doctor Who cast this week, including Matt Smith’s ruminations on how (and perhaps when) he’d play an evil Doctor.

3.) Oh yes, and Eleven is confirmed for a third season. The BBC and Steven Moffat let slip this week that Matt Smith IS returning for a seventh series of 13 episode plus a Christmas special. Here’s hoping we’ll see him even beyond that, as we luff him.

On to the cool stuff:

1.) Buy a lifesize, fully functional Dalek. Only about five grand. Firebox is selling licensed replicas of the Daleks from series 1 through 4. Their lasers have been made non-functional, and you can’t ride in them, but they move and speak and are, in general, the perfect gift for the millionaire who enjoys terrorizing their friends.

They come in a variety of colors, too! So they can match the paint scheme of your evil lair. (Color coordination, Davros. Learn it.)

Now if only they’d make a replica K-9.

2.) How does a Time Lord tell time? Very stylishly. We couldn’t find the creator/manufacturer of this Gallifreyan clock, but oh, we wants it.

3.) Steven Moffat foresees running Doctor Who in 1995. Well, sort of. He’s pegged as a fan favorite to run the show, should it ever return, providing proof that rambling on the internet about what you love can lead you to it in a roundabout way.

(It also helps if you’re a crackerjack writer.)

Stubby the Rocket is also going to run Doctor Who someday. First rocket-powered showrunner in history!

If I had the space and the cash, I'd love to buy me a Dalek! :)

K-9's on show at Olympia 2 in London as part of the Doctor Who experience, that's if you want to see him up close and personal. Worth a visit if you're around here. It's only there until September or October then it's moving on.

This might result in a double post, but it seems to me that my original comment has disappeared in the ether.

I've seen the finale also and I agree about the excited and pissed off part and add slightly confused, but I guess that's just one of the dangers of time travel.

Also, the Daley is bad.
javascript:void(0)/*345*/ doesn't go anywhere.

I've seen the episode three times now, and I don't remember that trailer being part of it...
