New Conan Trailer Features Full-On Shirtless Action

To Game of Thrones fans, Jason Momoa is better known as Khal Drogo, the Dothraki leader. But now, he might be known by another name: Conan! Like he says in the trailer, how many names does he need? (The number of shirts he needs is apparently zero.) Complete with Ron Perlman, this bloodbath may end your summer on fun, if maybe a little cheesy note. What do you think of the new Barbarian?

I really want to like this. But that song? Ugh. Looks like rental.

Bein a huge fan of Robert E. Howard's Conan saga, I realy doubt this will live up to the image of the dark brooding, intelligent Cimmerian that i have from the books. Arnold's stint as Conan was lackluster and not a true portrayal of the barbarian i knew from the books, at best it was entertaining. Let's hope hollywood will at some point give us a true dipiction of Conan.

I'm not really a fan of the new Conan. Momoa just doesn't look right for the role. I don't think we need another Arnold, but Momoa just doesn't hit it either. Sad to say, the best Conan depiction I've seen thus far as from the MMO, Age of Conan. Takes a bit, but you finally get to see King Conan in that game, and it wasn't Arnold, but he was still big and buff, and had some brains on him too.

Ah Conan, a Mary Sue cut from a different cloth...

The first trailer was bad enough, THIS ONE looks like a preview for a generic SyFy movie.

I'm certainly trepidatous and this trailor does nothing to remove that feeling. Also, what's with the terrible generic rock song? That's supposed to go along with a Conan preview? Ug.

As a fan of REH stories and characters since the 70s I'm willing to give Momoa a chance. If for no other reason than to scrub out the Arnold image. He may not be the Conan of Howard but he seems capable of more than Schwartzenegger's version.

This is confusing. Did Ronon Dex go through a stargate to a planet with no tech?

Personally, I've always preferred Kull the Conqueror to Conan the Barbarian, so I'll pass on this one, kthxbai.

Ah Conan, a Mary Sue cut from a different cloth...

Conan isn't a Mary Sue by any stretch of the word, he is just really good at what he does. There are people in history and modern times who are really good at what they do. Yet nobody calls Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Manfred von Richthofen, Audie Murphy or Simo Haya Mary Sues.

@8: Well, Conan WAS a bit of a Gary Sue for Howard. It's well known that Howard based Conan off himself physically, but a bit more ideal. So, it was just a bit. At the same time, I adore the legend that Howard wrote them with the spirit of Conan telling him what to write. That's still fantastic.

Well, the trailer might be cheesy (but then again, all trailers lie), but for me, i'm just glad that they show conan actually KILLING people.
