J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series inspires our imaginations by showing us our world, but with a side that we’ve never before seen. As we lead up to the end of the Harry Potter movies, I’m taking a two-part look at the crafts which make this fantasy world real in our own. This first part highlights items which have already been made and are available on Etsy. The second will share free patterns and instructions for all kinds of Potter crafting.
1.) Molly Weasley’s Marvelous Sweater
In Chamber of Secrets Molly Weasley wears a the fantastic sweater, pictured above. Numerous crafters have attempted to replicate the design and the example below is an impressive example:
2.) Hermoine’s Accessories from Half-Blood Prince
A pair of Etsians have figured out patterns for Hermoine’s hat and scarf as pictured above in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. They’re gorgeous, although the scarf is so complex that at a fair price for the artist it’s too expensive for most of us. Still, it’s lovely to look at.
3.) Tiny Knitted Hedwig
Wish you had an owl to deliver your messages and keep you company? KatesCache knits adorable fuzzy little Hedwigs, each with her own Gryffindor scarf!
4.) Knitting Pattern for a Monster Book of Monsters
Phoenix Knits has sells a knitting pattern she created for a Monster Book of Monsters book cover. If you’re not a knitter, you might be able to talk one of your crafty friends into making it for you, or see if the seller does them as commissions. If you make this pattern, don’t forget to stroke the spine before opening or you might lose a finger!
5.) Golden Snitch for the Littlest Seeker
A particularly cunning creation I came across was the golden snitch baby rattle. Raising a little witch or wizard and want to make a quidditch star? Get your child started early with this:
