Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Appreciation Giveaway

USS Reliant model from Round2 ModelsFor the first week of May we’re appreciating all of the Star Trek movies featuring the original cast! We’ve got great pieces from Tor.com bloggers, our Trek recappers, and some very special guests, but that’s not all.

Every Star Trek movie appreciation this week will have an accompanying giveaway specific to that movie. A bit of history, or something tongue-in-cheek, or something random...whatever feels right.

For today’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan coverage we’re giving away a model of the U.S.S. Reliant from Round2 Models! Gather your Ceti Alpha V brigands and storm the bridge! (Just make sure you know how to fight in three dimensions or you’ll get Kirkslapped.**)

**This is our new fun thing to say.

The Official Rules: To enter, post a comment in this post. Duplicate comments won’t be counted. One winner will be randomly selected by noon EST on Wednesday, May 4th. Please check your email in the 24 hours after the giveaway has concluded; if we don’t hear back from a winner within 24 hours of being contacted, another winner will be chosen.

Stubby the Rocket is the mascot of Tor.com and can't seem to find Ceti Alpha VI on Google Maps... Maybe it was given the wrong directions?

Great giveaway! That's the movie I did such a good job of saying "It's just a movie" to my daughter so she wouldn't be scared of the worm in the ear that she repeated the same thing back to me when Spock died & I was crying.

So hard to choose a favorite line from this one, but mine may very well be this exchange:

KIRK: Just words.
DAVID: But good words. That's where ideas begin. Maybe you should listen to them.

Don't make me kirkslap you. It would be highly illogical.

I would have preferred it to be NCC-1701, no bloody A, B, C, or D but this is good too!
James Gibney
83. The Black Forest
I love this ship. It was quite amusing when it showed up in the DS9 episdode Tears of the Prophets as one of the CGI Mirandas.

The Reliant was a good ship. Pity I blew it up.
That's right - I, Khan Noonghian Singh live on!
Mwahahahaha!
Mind lending me your new ship? I promise I'll take better care of this one.
Dictator's pinkie promise.

"I don't know you. But you," and he points to Chekov, "I never forget a face."

Khan has to be the sexiest Star Trek villain (that's right, even sexier than Tom Hardy from Nemesis).

And so...
Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnn!

This was the first Star Trek movie I was old enough to see AND remember. At least I remembered enough to have a lifelong terror of brainworms. Thanks, Khan!

But: Cool ship! I want it! Then I can get away from the brainworms!
James Gibney
102. Raelshark
Yes, please.

"Because we don’t know when we will die, we get to think of life as an
inexhaustible well, when everything only happens a certain number of
times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you
remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that’s so
deeply a part of your being that you cannot even conceive of your life
without it? Perhaps 4 or 5 times more. Perhaps not even that. How many
more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it
all seems limitless."

Adding my comment. While I wasn't a huge fan of Mortal Kombat vs. DC, I do have to say there is a moment where the Joker does the KHAAAAN! scream. It's so out of nowhere that I lost the following fight because I was laughing so hard.
James Gibney
120. Krautty
The model would match the May photo on my Star Trek calendar.
James Gibney
