Futurama Renewed For a Seventh Season

Everybody do the Bender! Comedy Central has renewed Futurama for a full seventh season of 26 episodes. The renewal comes halfway through the science fiction cartoon’s sixth season, which returns in June with a 13-episode run.

The show has thus far averaged 2.5 million viewers per episode (with undoubtedly more online) and remains one of Comedy Central's highest rated shows.

Do the Bender?

Nooo - do the Zoidberg. You humans need an articulated carapace to make these sounds and motions? Aww man...

Personally, I take all my celebration advice directly from Hedonism Bot. (And regret nothing, obviously).

Good news everyone! Futurama is such a brilliant show. It has a great mix of humour and poignancy. The jokes run the full gamut of juvenile, geeky and political. A superficial viewing might see some crassness in Bender's character, but it never sinks to the level of the Family Guy, and a close viewing shows Bender has insecurities and deeper yearnings to go with his gambling, stealing and whoring. The moving moments are powerful and surprising frequent too, like Fry’s dog, and his fraught romance with Leila, and they really elevate it beyond your typical adult cartoon.
