Weekly Who: Gallifrey One Is Here!

Gallifrey One 22nd Annual Doctor Who ConventionWelcome to our Weekly Who roundup! Every Friday morning we collect random/cool Doctor Who-related news and things that we’ve found in our internet travels. Feel free to point out your own finds in the comments!

Today we’re a little light, because all the awesome stuff is happening right this very second. This year’s Gallifrey One convention is kicking off this morning and it features an amazing array of guests

Some smaller celebrations in the news this week:

1.) 2|Entertain has begun a Classic Doctor Who tweetwatch! Fans from all across the world can now watch and comment on classic episodes together every Saturday at 8 PM GMT (3 PM EST, 12 PM PST) through the Doctor Who Classic Twitter. This week features the classic First Doctor episode “The War Machines.”

2.) Doctor Who audio adventure giveaway. U.K. papers The Guardian and The Observer will enclose free Eleventh Doctor audio adventures in their papers this Saturday and Sunday. “The Hounds of Artemis” is inserted in The Guardian on Saturday and “The Ring of Steel” is contained in The Observer on Sunday. The former is yet to be released, while the latter came out last August.

David Tennant as Hamlet stamp3.) Keep licking David Tennant until he sticks around. The U.K. postal service is releasing special stamps themed with recent Royal Shakespeare Company productions. One of them is David Tennant as Hamlet, which he starred in during the fall of 2008. We’ve not yet run out of sexual innuendos to say about this one. (Would you?!?)

Cool stuff!

Project Dalek1.) Really really want to build your own Dalek? No judgments, but look into joining Project Dalek. You’ll find schematics, instructions, and more for building your own trundling pot of plungering doom!

2.) Thanks to commenter EmmetAOBrien for pointing out this trailer for a fake Third Doctor anime!

We had no idea the Doctor liked to karate chop so much! (Thought we must say, the corridor running is dead on.)

It's always a little more friendly to include a link, even when the website is a simple .com.

Ack. That's my bad. There was a link but I must have wiped it while formatting. We'll add it back in now.

Sorry to spil the fun, but most British stamps are self adhesive, so there is no need to lick Mr Tennant (unless you really want to).

Wolfbrother out!
