Terry Gilliam to co-produce 1884

Those of us with taste and breeding need hear only the phrase “Terry Gilliam steampunk” to be immediately and fully enthusiastic. Yes, Terry Gilliam is producing a steampunk puppet movie (just roll those words on your tongue like a fine wine) with his protege, Tim Ollive, who will be writing and directing. Observe the following two clips, tests by Ollive, and keep your hand under your jaw when it drops.

As yet there is no scheduled release date, but surely some distributor who cares about increasing the sum total of joy in the world will make this happen. Steampunk, Terry Gilliam, and puppets: it really is Christmas.
