Behind the Scenes with Star Trek: The Next Generation

Two great captains yakking it up behind the scenes

Thanks to Slightly Warped, we get a peek behind the scenes at Star Trek: The Next Generation. In my opinion, one of the greatest strengths of the show was the obvious chemistry amongst the cast members and this series of photos really highlights that camaraderie.

I can’t put my finger on it, but something seems to be missing from this photo...

Worf doing research for a Holodeck vacation?

I’m not sure Jean-luc would approve!

Many more photos are available over at Slightly Warped, including all of your favourite characters (there must by Tasha Yar fans out there somewhere) and spanning almost the entire length of the television series and the movies. It’s an absolute must-see for fans of the show or those interested in filmmaking!

Aidan Moher is the editor of A Dribble of Ink, a humble little blog that exists in some dusty corner of the web. He hasn’t won any awards, or published any novels. But he’s, uhh... working on that.

He is also a contributor at SF Signal and the lackey for io9’s Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy podcast.

I love ST:TNG. Even managed to get my wife to enjoy it. This is such a cool look at things behind the scene of the show.

It is a good day to die go boating, apparently.

The originating site has a LOT of pics. Interesting how few of them involve Brent Spiner. Camera shy? Or eternally stuck in make-up trailers? I also love the pics that were so obviously supposed to be part of a "Women of Star Trek" piece.

Some of my favourite photos are the one's featuring Jonathan Frakes directing. It's just weird seeing Riker in acid-wash jeans bossing Jean-luc Picard around!

@3. Yeah! He is positively adorable in those earlier ones. Fresh-faced and just SO HAPPY to be working on the Star Trek franchise. (I think in the 11th one down?)

Perfect timing! We're rewatching TNG, on the fifth season...last time I saw it, I was the age when it was confusing that Geordi didn't have his visor on Reading Rainbow :D

Now if I could only find a lifesize cutout of Data...

Greenland: Now that you mention Spiner, it occurs to me you'd make a mean Data for Halloween. Hmm...

Great pictures!

Even back in the day I never understood the hatred for Wesley Crusher. I guess it was because I was just fresh out of high school and I was a lot like him: socially awkward and brainy. I was heart broken when Wil Wheaton left the show.

Now Tasha Yar, I never got. Nothing against Denise Crosby, but what was the point of Tasha Yar?

@Applekey What do you mean, "what was the point of Tasha Yar?" She was the security officer, which was pretty awesome considering that is not a role usually given to females in scifi at the time (or even now). Do you mean why was she around for a short time? It's a job. Sometimes people move on.

Thanks for sharing! I keep trying to get the beau to sit down and watch the first season with me, but he keeps getting us distracted with things like Eureka... (also good, of course!) I haven't been able to afford the whole series yet, but hopefully I will get some more for Xmas. :)

There are two beardless Rikers in that last photo @_@
