One of the better things I’ve discovered in recent weeks is the John Boswell-headed project, “Symphony of Science.” The idea is to “deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form.” In practice, there are several downloadable songs/watchable videos created with audio and electronic music.

I find these to be moving and lovely—as well as in some strange way soothing. It’s like a hymn to scientific discovery and exploration. Space is the predominant theme, though there’s also a sound about biology. For a nerd with an interest in space, or evolution, or the indomitable size of the universe, I recommend giving these a listen.

This is one of my favorites—it’s the conglomeration of genius writers/scientists from the various disciplines, all in one video, sharing what they love more about science itself.

This one is musically the most enjoyable to me, and also has some of the more elegant lyrics/speeches. Oh, Carl Sagan—you’ve given me so much.
