2009 Hugo Awards Spotlight

On Sunday, the 2009 Hugo Awards will be presented at Anticipation, this year’s Worldcon, in Montreal. The nominees were announced last March (nominees are chosen by Worldcon’s members, both attending and supporting), and unsurprisingly are always the subject of much debate. This week, leading up to the actual awards ceremony on Sunday, Tor.com will be spotlighting some of the written work up for awards. Each day we will feature a review of one of the books up for Best Novel, as well as a look at the Best Novella, Best Novelette, and Best Short Story nominees. The nomination list is much, much larger than these few areas and I encourage you to check out the other twelve categories. With so much incredible work nominated (not to mention an incredible array of talented individuals!) you can come up with an impressive reading list, at least.

Congratulations again to all the nominees!

Just an observation.

Last years ballot for Hugo Best Novel category had one book I purchased, read, and loved (all before the nominations were announced). Scalzi's btw.

This years ballot? I have purchased four out of five books nominated (all before the nominations were announced), and read three. So far.
