Saturday Morning Cartoons: “Surface” and “Infinity”

Surface, Infinity

Surface: A Film from Underneath: I love this. A thousand playful narratives, albeit one unhappy ending. At first glance you may think it’s  about the technique but it quickly becomes more than that. (2.30 minutes)

Infinity: An ode to Tokyo. A sweet mood piece. (3.55 minutes)

Surface: A Film from Underneath

(Full screen version on movie’s website, linked above—very much recommended.)

I liked Surface (though I could have done without the ending). I *loved* Infinity.

Beautiful pieces. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have this sudden, unexplainable urge to by a citizen watch....

I thought Surface was great. I didn't mind the ending, though I admit it kinda came out of left field.

I really liked Infinity until I saw that it was an ad for a watch. Cut out the advertisement and just leave the film itself and it'd be gold.

THanks for chiming in guys!

I don't mind the ending for Surface either...although it is a surprise within something that seems very joyous.

I'm always debating wether to show commercials, or even music videos. I try to only play either when the the movie is enhanced by the product and not the other way around. I thought Infinity fit that since it's sense of time and 'clockwork construction" was a beautifully undercurrent in the movie.

That said, I did see Infinity as the "side b" of the pair. Sometime I love both movies equally, other times they are paired more because they feel right together.
