Saturday Morning Cartoons: “The God” and “She Who Measures”

The God
Konstantin Bronzit
Everyone’s got something that gets the best of them. Brilliant comic timing.

She Who Measures
Veljko Popović
A wasteland of consumerism...told in a very WTFery way.
(High resolution, but small, version on the site linked above.)

First time posting to the SMC threads, but I have been watching for a while, and I'd just like to say "Wow." She Who Measures actually kinda broke my head. think I'll stick to Wall-E for my anti-walmart fix...

I totally symapthize with Shiva there, though. hate flies.

R.Fife,

Thanks for chiming in. Yeah, She Who Measure is weird. I watched it three or four times wondering if I liked it...but once I decided I did, I _really_ liked it.

Gibbous - any and all comments welcome, especially cold medicine induced ones!

Speaking of "Saturday morning cartoons," the amazing animated movie Sita Sings the Blues is now watchable on-line in its entirety in streaming video format. The other day, I opened it just to see what it looked like—and was so mesmerized I watched the whole thing.

If you'd rather see it in better quality, it will become freely available for download under a Creative Commons license from archive.org and other places on March 7th in DVD quality and higher.

Don't miss this movie!

Thanks, Robotech. I haven't seen all of Sita yet but I'm _so_ much looking forward to it. Now I'll wait for the higher res version -- it can make a big difference.

I believe our Megan Messinger is planning a review sometime soon as well.

One of the best I´ve seen. The story is obvious (after a while) but the sheer graphiquness! I have always wondered how one can handle 6 arms. Now I know.

Thanks

(SWM)Extremely cool. Reminds me of early Heavy Metal Magazine when it was called Metal Hurlant, same quality. Scary, moving and true. Thanks.
