Saturday Morning Cartoons: “The Diary of Tortov Roddle: A Red Fruit” and “Strange Invaders”

The Diary of Tortov Roddle: A Red Fruit
Katou Kunio
Tamu Townsend, of Frames Per Second, turned me on to Katou Kunio. Kunio has created a marvelous series of dreamscapes featuring a traveler and his horse-legged pig. There are over a half dozen of these little films. Each is quiet and elegant, with a subtle humor and beautifully drawn.

Strange Invaders

Thanks. If I remember correctly, you were not a fan of some of the darker ones. (?) Thanks for sticking with it.

I'll still be mixing dark animations in but perhaps with the added bit of copy, people can decide if something might be worth their time before hand.

And quickly, Kunio just won an Oscar for Best animated short for his film La Maison en petits cubes also definitively worth the watch.

Thanks, Cybernetic! I had been avoiding movies split into two parts but after viewing that, I'm sorry I did. Fantastic. I just posted in on my own blog and bet it will make an appearance here soon.
