Mary Robinette Kowal is the 2008 recipient of the Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Her short fiction has appeared in Strange Horizons, Cosmos, and Asimov’s. Her first novel, Shades of Milk and Honey, will be published by Tor in 2010. She is serving her second term as Secretary of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
A professional puppeteer and voice actor, Kowal lives in New York City with her husband Rob and nine manual typewriters. She also performs as a voice actor, recording fiction for authors such as Elizabeth Bear, Cory Doctorow and John Scalzi.
