Vincent Villafranca
Vincent Villafranca
Vincent Villafranca was born in Monterey, California. As a child, he developed an extremely vivid imagination fed by the large amount of visual information that came his way via his older siblings: 70’s album-cover art; after-school sci-fi shows like Star Trek, Lost in Space, and Space Giants; his older brother’s action figures and his mother’s doodling.  Vincent’s fascination with the world of creativity really came into being when he was introduced to the craft of metal-casting. He had always been an obsessive “maker-of-things” and the medium of bronze seemed to be an effective way to preserve images.  Vincent’s life-long love affair with sci-fi and fantasy imagery spurred him to make bronzes that had one foot in reality and the other deep in the fantastic.  He counts himself lucky to be able to translate his mind’s wanderings into tangible form.

Vincent currently lives in rural north Texas.  Every morning he spends a few minutes in the studio trying to solve creativity issues over a hot cup of coffee. Current projects include a large hybrid robot that incorporates bison and monkey elements; he has also been progressing on his Otherworldly Procession bronze, which depicts a band of weary bots trudging along through a desert-like environment.  Vincent also works with another local sculptor at a small private studio, where they produce public art for the Dallas/Fort Worth market.
