Born on a Halloween morning, Karla Ortiz grew up on the island of Puerto Rico. She briefly studied animation at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, but found herself being attracted to illustrations instead. So she moved from Florida to San Francisco, CA to study drawing and painting at the Safehouse Atelier under the tutelage of fine artist Carl Dobsky and concept artists from Massive Black. Today, Karla is a professional artist that loves diversity in her projects. She has worked as a concept artist for video game companies such as NCsoft and Kabam , provided illustrations for Wizards of the Coast and Tor Books, and has done various group shows at galleries through out California. She spends her free time drawing, painting, studying, playing video games and hanging out with her silly cat, Keedy Bady.
