Dan was born and raised in Connecticut. As a child, he spent an inordinate amount of time reading comics, and even more time drawing them. That love of comics ignited a lifelong passion for art and prompted him to attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City. It was there that he learned to paint and really began to focus on science fiction and fantasy illustration.
