Audioslice: Burning Paradise by Robert Charles Wilson

What if our entire existence and history were manipulated by an extraterrestrial authority? Hugo Award-winner Robert Charles Wilson explores this idea in his latest novel, Burning Paradise, also available as an audiobook.

It’s 2015 in the United States, where peace and prosperity have reigned since the Great Armistice of 1918. However, Cassie knows that this world is not what it seems, and her knowledge of the dangerous forces behind the utopia put her and the rest of her world in jeopardy. Can she save the world, or is it doomed for destruction?

Listen to Earth Unaware by Orson Scott Card and Catch Him on Tour

This Tuesday, Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston release a new installment in the beloved Ender Universe. Earth Unaware takes place well before Ender Wiggin saved the human race by annihilating the alien Formics in Ender’s Game. This is where it all started. This is the story of the First Formic War.

Orson Scott Card once said, “The ideal presentation of any book of mine is to have excellent actors perform it in an audio format.” Fortunately, Earth Unaware is available in audio and with excellent actors performing it. Like many of Card’s previous audiobooks, Earth Unaware features a superb multi-voice cast led by Stefan Rudnicki. Other voices on the program include seasoned narrator Scott Brick and actress Emily Janice Card, who just so happens to be Orson Scott Card’s daughter.

Audioslice: Sisterhood of Dune

New Year, new Dune. While it’s nearly 2012 for us, for the characters in Sisterhood of Dune it is 83 years after the last of the thinking machines was destroyed in the Battle of Corrin.

Changes are brewing in the Dune universe, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the audiobook narrator. Scott Brick, the longtime Dune go-to voice, is back. For each book, he checks in with authors Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and consults with Frank Herbert’s pronunciation guide to make sure he’s getting every word right. Scott delivers the authenticity along with the adventure.
