The Handmaid’s Tale, the television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s iconic novel, will premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. The streaming service announced the premiere date today and also shared new photos of Offred, Moira, Commander Waterford, Serena Joy, and the other inhabitants of the dystopian Republic of Gilead.

The series, executive produced by Bruce Miller (The 100) and Ilene Chaiken (The L Word), among others, envisions a future in which the totalitarian Republic of Gilead responds to environmental collapse and higher rates of infertility with “a return to traditional values.” Women are separated into a hierarchy: Commanders’ Wives like Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski), Handmaids like Offred (Elisabeth Moss) and Moira (Samira Wiley), and the Aunts who train them. As Offred hopes for a pregnancy that will keep her useful to her household, she also searches for her lost husband and daughter and becomes aware of a larger conspiracy involving spies on both sides—Gilead and the growing resistance.

These photos can only mean that a trailer release must be coming soon.

Unlike Netflix or Amazon Studios, Hulu releases episodes weekly; the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale will have 10 episodes.
