The 2015 ALA Annual Conference takes place June 26-29 in San Francisco, and Tor/Forge Books has an exciting schedule filled with panels, author events, and book signings. Find out what speculative fiction gets right (and wrong) about technological innovation; hear from YALSA’s 2015 Alex Award winner John Scalzi and Stonewall Book Award honoree Jo Walton; and even participate in a speed-dating event with children’s authors and illustrators. Tor/Forge Books will be at booth #1013 for signings and more; stop by and say hello!

SATURDAY, JUNE 27th

Tor/Forge Books Booth Signings #1013
Mary Pat Kelly (Of Irish Blood), 9 a.m.
Charlie Jane Anders (All the Birds in the Sky), 10 a.m.
Kathleen Baldwin (A School for Unusual Girls), 1:30 p.m.

Tor Books and the ALA’s Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) present Unknown Knowns and Known Unknowns: How Speculative Fiction Gets Technological Innovation Right and Wrong, 1-2:30 p.m., Moscone Center, Room 2005 (W)

Science Fiction often has a predictive value, yet often overlooks the small things. Join our great panel of Science Fiction and Fantasy authors, Vernor Vinge, Greg Bear, John Scalzi, Marie Brennan and Larry Correia (Baen Books) as they discuss their work and how it connects with technological opportunities and developments that were missed, never invented, and those that came about in ways unimagined. The panel will consider the role speculative fiction plays in fostering innovation and bringing about new ideas. A complimentary bag of books will be given to the first 200 attendees!

The Association of American Publishers’ Children’s and Teen Author Speed-Dating Event, 3-4 p.m., Marriott Hotel, Golden Gate B

Authors and illustrators of children’s, middle grade, and teen fiction, including Tor Teen author Kathleen Baldwin, will join librarians in a lightning round speed-dating event.
