Tor.com is excited to reveal the U.S. cover for The Gospel of Loki by Joanne M. Harris, author of Chocolat. The Gospel of Loki was a bestseller in the UK and will be published by Saga Press in the U.S. on May 5, 2015. Check out the full cover below, and read editor Joe Monti’s thoughts on the design!

More on The Gospel of Loki from Saga’s press release:

Loki is a Norse god like no other. From his recruitment by Odin from the realm of Chaos, through his years as the go-to man of Asgard, to his fall from grace in the build-up to Ragnarok, The Gospel of Loki is the unofficial history of the world’s ultimate unreliable narrator.

“As Loki would say, bringing his story to Saga Press, of all places, has the ring of destiny to it,” [author Joanne] Harris says. “But he has been known to exaggerate the truth, from time to time.”

Joe Monti, Executive Editor of Saga Press, on the cover design by Michael McCartney:

“One of the most distinctive aspects of the novel is how Harris captured the spirit of Loki from the eddas as a charming rogue. Her Loki is both hilarious and wise, and we wanted to evoke that on the cover. So the piece is a wink, as Vikings did not have horned helmets, nor is Loki a warrior! Thus the whole book, from cover to cover, is about challenging your assumptions about Norse mythology through a terrific fantasy novel.”
