We can’t get enough of
these Chinese covers for J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, from WenJing Publishing. Turns out they are part of a cover competition for the forthcoming Chinese edition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, from WenJing Publishing. Artist Jian Guo applies such incredible detail to these nearly-monochromatic, stained glass-inspired covers. We also love how he incorporates Mandarin characters themselves into the design.
The characters he uses to denote “Lord of the Rings” actually look like Middle Earth buildings—which is such a cool touch.
Check out more of Guo’s art, including his slightly more cartoonish take on Harry Potter, at his deviantART page.
