Back in 2009, Daniel H. Wilson—author of Robopocalypse—wrote an original short story for Tor.com titled “The Nostalgist,” a tender tale about a world where we augment ourselves artificially through robotic prostheses and genetic manipulation. A finalist in 2009 for Year’s Best Science Fiction, “The Nostalgist” blends speculation on future technology with real human pathos. Naturally we’re a little biased here, but it is an example of exactly the right balance of humanity and technology good science fiction can accomplish. And now you can help turn it into a short film. Check out the details and concept art below.
The film is being produced by Italian filmmaker Giacomo Cimini, working with Pietro Greppi and Tommaso Colognese while LRNZ is providing the concept art. Principal photography is complete but the filmmakers need some help finishing up the visual effects. The movie cameo Kickstarter packages have been snatched up already, but there’s plenty else left!
Head on over to their Kickstarter campaign and be a part of making this awesome Tor.com original short story into a movie!
