In May of 2011, filmmaker Christopher Abbas assembled NASA’s massive collection of recent stills (we’re talking thousands of pictures) from the Cassini space probe and created a two minute movie exploring Saturn, its rings, and surrounding moons from the probe’s point of view.
The video is super trippy but we highly recommend watching it because WOW, actual Saturn!

More notes on how Abbas assembled the video can be found here and more information about NASA’s Cassini program can be found on their Saturn mini-site!
Stubby the Rocket is the mascot of Tor.com. Stubby is really glad the video doesn’t show the other side of Saturn because it is really not in the mood to see Space Cthulhu today.
