Published on June 29, 2012

After a busy spring, paranormal romantics are obviously busy with Fifty Shades of Vacation this summer, so we found only eleven new offerings this month available in both print and digital. But Alexis Morgan kicks off a magical new series, and there are new series books from Stephanie Julian, Kylie Griffin, Amanda Bonilla, Sylvia Day, Tera Lynn Childs, Joss Ware, and J.K. Beck. And Lynsay Sands keeps vamp-lovers happy with the seventeenth outing of her Argeneau vampires.

Fiction Affliction details releases in science fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and “genre-benders.” Keep track of them all here.

A Sinister Sense, by Allison Kingsley (July 3, Berkley)

Visions of the future and turning into people’s thoughts come naturally to Clara Quinn thanks to her inherited Quinn Sense. But Tatters is the least of Rick’s problems when a dead body is discovered in the back of his truck. The victim was seen in the hardware store—and bludgeoned to death with a hammer stolen from there. Clara believes Rick is innocent, but she’s not sure whether that belief comes from the Quinn Sense in her head or simply from a desire in her heart.

Alliance Forged (Light Blade, Book 2), by Kylie Griffin (July 3, Berkley)

Varian, leader of the Na’Chi, a hybrid race of gifted warriors, is cursed with the darker impulses of his demon heritage. Controlling the part of himself that craves the high of the battle is a struggle he’s afraid he’ll lose—until he meets Kymora Tayn, a priestess driven to serve her deity. While he’s unwilling to trust anyone outside his people, he finds himself drawn to Kymora’s strength and passionate nature, and discovers she has the power to calm the darkness inside him. When the Na’Reish raid human territory for blood-slaves and kick start a war, the key to the survival of both races—Na’Chi and human— is an alliance.

For months Darian and her Shaede guardian Raif have searched for the Oracle who attempted to overthrow the Shaede Nation—and kill Darian in the bargain. But now that they’ve finally found the half-crazed Oracle, for their efforts they are granted a possibility too painful for Raif to imagine, and too enticing for Darian to ignore. Darian is determined to reunite Raif and the daughter he thought was dead, but her mission quickly proves dangerous when her lover Tyler is almost killed. And when a brooding and mysterious Fae warrior offers his guidance—at an extraordinary price—Darian finds herself willing to risk everything.
