June 2012 Paranormal Romance Book Releases

It’s a lucky thirteen worth of releases in paranormal romance for June, and we worked hard to find covers minus the fab-abs this month. There are a couple of new series launches, including one from Gena Showalter, plus sophomore series releases from Tamara Hogan (Underbelly Chronicles), Tara Hudson (Hereafter), Lauren Dane (Bound by Magick), Heather Killough-Walden (Lost Angels), and Donna Grant (Dark Warrior).

Fiction Affliction details releases in science fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and “genre-benders.” Keep track of them all here.

WEEK ONE

Chase Me (Underbelly Chronicles, Book 2), by Tamara Hogan (June 1, Sourcebooks Casablanca)

Incubi, sirens, vampires, Valkyerie, faeries, and were-creatures live secretly alongside humanity in this gritty series. In the second installment, Valkyrie archaeologist Lorin Schlessinger and werewolf geologist Gabriel Lupinsky are assigned to work together on a dig site. Gabriel’s methodical work practices and Lorin’s inexplicable attraction to him grate on the archaeologist’s nerves. But when she unlocks a cryptic box that sends a signal to intergalactic enemies, Lorin will have to set aside her feelings and work with Gabriel or risk losing everything.

Arise (Hereafter, Book 2), by Tara Hudson (June 5, HarperTeen)

Amelia—still caught between life and death—must fight for every moment of her relationship with the human boy Joshua. They can hardly even kiss without Amelia accidentally dematerializing. Looking for answers, they go to visit some of Joshua’s Seer relatives in New Orleans. But even in a city so famously steeped in the supernatural, Amelia ends up with more questions than answers…and becomes increasingly convinced that she and Joshua can never have a future together. Young Adult.

Blazing the Trail (The Dragon Diaries, Book 3), by Deborah Cooke (June 5, NAL)

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and Zoë Sorensson’s love life is heating up. Cute, loyal, and understanding, wolf shifter Derek is pretty much the perfect guy. He likes Zoë, and he knows what it’s like to have to keep a secret. Yet, Zoë can’t help but wish it was rebel rocker Jared asking her to the Valentine’s dance instead. But Jared’s too busy playing hot and cold with her heart, calling Zoë his dragon girl one minute and then taking special interest in her best friend the next. Young Adult.

Chaos Burning (Bound by Magick, Book 2), by Lauren Dane (June 5, Berkley)

The life of Lark Jaansen, hunter in Clan Gennessee, has been shaped by violence and unrest—and it defines her future. Well-trained and resilient, she’s met her militaristic match in Simon Leviathan, a warrior not of this world. Locked in mutual admiration and a desire so hot it burns, Lark and Simon have something else in common: they love the dark, and as a shadow is cast over their world, they’re each coming into their own. A mysterious war has been waged among the Others. As witches and humans turn against each other, as faes retreat in fear, and as vampires rise, Lark and Simon discover that an unseen force is behind it.

Fascinated, by Marissa Day (June 5, Berkley)

Alicia Hartwell has never experienced the pleasure of passion. Despite all her efforts to comprehend the notion of romantic love, it has remained an utterly foreign concept to her. Resigned to the life of a spinster, Alicia is therefore stunned when she receives a marriage proposal from the highly eligible bachelor, Lord Carstairs…until she meets him. But Lord Edward Carstairs is not a normal nobleman. He’s a Catalyst—able to draw magical power from the natural world for use in spells by human sorcerers. He senses that Alicia is a victim of enchantment, one that has suppressed her erotic urges. Powerfully attracted to her, he’s certain that he’s the one to help her experience pleasure for the first time.

Messenger’s Angel (Lost Angels, Book 2), by Heather Killough-Walden (June 5, Signet)

Since the beginning of time, the archangels have longed to know true love. When four female angels were created for the four archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Azrael, a chaos spurred by jealousy erupted, and the archesses were secreted away to Earth. The four favored archangels followed, prompting a search that has lasted millennia. For hundreds of years, Gabriel has passed himself off as a common Scottish villager. Few know he is the Messenger, a powerful archangel who has secretly scoured the world for the only woman who can complete him. Now, he’s shocked to discover the object of his desire in his own backyard.

Visions of Chains (The Awakening, Book 3), by Regan Hastings (June 5, Signet)

“First Daughter” Deidre Sterling campaigns to protect witches from internment camps and execution, though her celebrity as the president’s daughter puts her at personal risk. When she is pulled deeper into the fight for witches’ rights, she meets Finn, who catalyzes her dormant power and makes her “one of the most powerful witches in the world.” As they search for an artifact that will help the Awakened witches make amends for and seal the hole to hell they opened 800 years before, Deidre comes to realize that Finn could be more to her than just a sexual partner who focuses her power.

WEEK TWO

Rapture (Fallen, Book 4), by Lauren Kate (June 12, Delacorte)

Time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again. Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen. For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. U.S. release. Young Adult.

Redemption (Penton Legacy, Book 1), by Susannah Sandlin (June 12, Montlake)

The world’s vampire population is on the brink of starvation since the vaccine to treat a global pandemic rendered human blood deadly to them. Their only hope for survival is a handful of rural areas that the vaccine never breached. The tiny town of Penton, Alabama, is one such enclave, where the immortal Aidan Murphy has established a community of vampires and their willingly bonded humans. Together, they live in peace—until Aidan’s estranged brother descends upon the town and begins attacking its humans. Desperate to save his adopted family, Aidan breaks one of his cardinal rules, kidnapping an unvaccinated human doctor—and unexpectedly falling in love for the first time in nearly four hundred years.

WEEK THREE

Dragon’s Curseby Denise Lynn (June 19, Harlequin)

Only the threat of losing her brother could force Ariel Johnson to break out of her predictable existence and into the stronghold of a changeling’s ancestral estate. Following him from a mystical island to a remote Appalachian resort, she’s trapped between sibling loyalty and an unquenchable desire for a lover who is both beast and man. But when Cameron Drake’s inner beast is awakened by the beauty he would claim for his perfect mate, his human side is not so easily convinced-for he knows Ariel is in the pocket of a sorcerer who wants his family dead.

Vacation with a Vampireby Michele Hauf, Kendra Leigh Castle and Lisa Childs (June 19, Harlequin)

A holiday with tall, dark, handsome—and immortal. Everyone needs a break sometimes, especially during the summer. After all, what’s more relaxing, and more romantic, than a midnight stroll through Paris? Or the way the moon reflects off the ocean? And if your mesmerizing, sexy date happens to be ready to nibble your neck, who would want to say no? Features “Stay,” by Michele Hauf; “Vivi and the Vampire” by Kendra Leigh Castle, and “Island Vacation” by Lisa Childs.

WEEK FOUR

But when he’s transported four centuries into the future, he finds himself fighting his own desires—for a beautiful, bewitching woman who could hold a warrior spellbound. Danielle Buchanan has heard the legends. She has felt the power of Druid blood in her veins. But she has never known a man as fearsome—or as haunted—as the warrior Ian. With her magic, Dani must help him fight an ancient evil. With her heart, she must join him in his quest.

Wicked Nights (Angels of the Dark, Book 1), by Gena Showalter (June 26, Harlequin)

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless … and if he isn’t careful, he’ll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions, at any cost—until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he’s never known before. Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel, the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell, is her only hope for survival.
