From memory foam to camera phones, to freeze-dried fruit, NASA has inspired a host of technologies that we use everyday. These “spin-off” technologies might not have existed without our epic space agency and now NASA is offering children between third grade and twelfth grade a chance to show their appreciation of these various inventions. Students are invited to submit their own “spin-off” video demonstrating their understanding of spin-off technologies. With Optimus Prime of the Autobots as their mascot, the Optimus Prime Spin-Off Awards will present a trophy to students in different grade levels based on their homemade video entries.
