Weekly Who: The Doctor Abides

Welcome to our Weekly Who roundup! Every Friday morning we collect random/cool Doctor Who-related news and things that we’ve found in our internet travels. Feel free to point out your own finds in the comments!

Earlier this week we asked the Tor.com Twitter and Facebook followers what their name would be if they were a Time Lord and they did not disappoint! (As you can see above.) Click through for the complete list.

Only one news item of note this week:

Russell T. Davies on BBC Wales

1.) Russell T. Davies feels ready to give science fiction a rest.

After writing damn near six seasons of science fiction television, Russell T. Davies hinted in an interview with BBC Wales that Torchwood: Miracle Day will probably be his last SF effort for a while.

It’s time to write something just where people talk in kitchens, at least for me.

We’d say after restoring a decades-old science fiction franchise to its utmost prime that he’s very much earned the break, no?

Doctor Duckies

2.) The picture above is a sample from the Doctor Who Look-a-Like Duckies being sold by Etsy user OnlyDucks. As you can see, Ten and Eleven are present in their full regalia, sonic screwdrivers and all, and Rubber Eleven even comes with an optional fez!

TARDIS ereader slipcover

3.) Now your iPhone is bigger on the inside. Check out these TARDIS slipcovers for your e-reader, iPhone, or iPod by MyFunkyCamelot. These are custom-made and can be fitted for a device of any size. You can also get an Adipose variant, although it’s hard to pass up the opportunity to carry a tiny TARDIS around….

3.) While we’re on a TARDIS tip, we also happened across this pattern for TARDIS-styled fingerless gloves over at Nerdy Knitventures.

4.) Earlier this week we had a hankering for someone to bake us evil cookies and ended up finding these illustrated Doctor Who cookies by Finnish baker Ocelan Bites.

Doctor Who cookies

We’re still waiting for evil cookies.
